25‑Year‑Old collapses and dies playing Badminton in Hyderabad!

A tragic incident in Hyderabad has prompted renewed attention on the risks of sudden cardiac arrest among young, active individuals. On the evening of July 27, 2025, 25-year-old Gundla Rakesh, employed at a private firm, was playing badminton on an indoor court at Nagole Stadium when he suddenly collapsed while about to serve. The entire moment was captured on CCTV and quickly circulated across social media.

Fellow players immediately rushed to his side and attempted cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), but he was declared “brought dead” upon arrival at the nearby hospital. Doctors suspect a heart attack, although official confirmation will depend on the post‑mortem results.

Rakesh was the son of Gundla Venkateshwarlu, former deputy sarpanch of Tallada in Khammam district. He collapsed while playing doubles with friends in a routine game, with no prior signs of distress.

Authorities are investigating the incident under Section 174 of the CrPC (unnatural death). Health experts are urging regular cardiac screenings for young adults engaged in physical activity.
