On Monday evening, the national capital witnessed large crowds as thousands of devotees gathered along ghats across the city to observe the third day of the four-day Chhath Puja festival dedicated to the Sun God. The Delhi Government said it had set up over 1,300 ghats city-wide, including 17 major ghats along the Yamuna River, and created artificial ponds to ensure safe and organised rituals.
Departments from sanitation to water-supply and traffic management coordinated to provide lighting, drainage, medical teams and security across all venues.
The festival’s community scale and the government’s large-scale infrastructure efforts reflect both devotion and urban planning coming together. Devotees offered Arghya to the setting Sun amid chants and lamps, marking an evening of faith and festivity ahead of the concluding rituals tomorrow morning.
