President appoints Ashok Gajapathi Raju as Goa Governor!

On Monday, July 14, 2025, President Droupadi Murmu approved the appointment of Pusapati Ashok Gajapathi Raju as the new Governor of Goa, succeeding P. S. Sreedharan Pillai, whose term ended this month . The formal order stated the appointment would come into effect from the date he assumes charge of his office .
Raju is a seasoned political figure and scion of the royal Pusapati family of Vizianagaram, Andhra Pradesh. He has held prominent roles, including Union Minister for Civil Aviation (2014–2018) and various important portfolios in the state government. He is also known for establishing the Andhra Cricket Association's training infrastructure .
This appointment is part of a larger reshuffle. Alongside Raju’s selection for Goa, Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh was named Governor of Haryana, and Kavinder Gupta will serve as Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh .
The transition marks a change at the Raj Bhavan, reflecting a blend of political experience and technocratic leadership in guiding Goa's governance. Detailed swearing-in dates are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
