Apple has hit a major milestone in India, recording $9 billion in domestic sales in FY25, its highest ever. What’s even more striking is India’s rising power in Apple’s global manufacturing network.
One in every five iPhones made worldwide is now assembled in India, marking a huge shift from earlier China-centric production. Company filings reveal that India contributed 12% of Apple’s total global production value, reflecting the government's push for local manufacturing and the success of PLI incentives.
For the first time, Apple began assembling its high-end iPhone Pro and Pro Max models within the country. While India contributes only 2% of Apple’s global revenue ($416.1 billion), its importance in Apple’s supply chain is growing rapidly. Apple’s India-based production touched $22 billion, with $7.5 billion worth of devices exported.
By avoiding the 16% import duty through local manufacturing, Apple has strengthened its pricing and sales strategy in the Indian market. With expanding retail stores and rising demand, Apple’s India story is just getting started.
