In the aftermath of the 2025 Bihar Legislative Assembly elections, the RJD finds itself not only politically battered but internally fractured. The saga of two brothers—Tejashwi Yadav and Tej Pratap Yadav—has played out in public, and it seems to have exacted a heavy toll. Tej Pratap, expelled from the party and entangled in longstanding personal and political controversies, mobilised a rebellious run that splintered RJD’s traditional voter base.
Meanwhile, Tejashwi, despite winning his family bastion, could not stop the deeper institutional decline—the RJD slipped to third place as the NDA soared past the majority mark.
This election has hence become as much about family loyalty and internal cohesion as it is about manifesto or ideology. Analysts suggest that the Yadav family’s public infighting undercuts RJD’s image as a disciplined vehicle of social justice. That internal disorder, combined with the NDA’s strong campaign and organisational discipline, resulted in a rout for the opposition. In short: the family feud didn’t just divide homes—it fractured the party’s political future.
