"Delhi Court Extends Tahawwur Rana’s Custody to July 9 Amid Health Concerns"

On June 6, 2025, a Delhi court extended the judicial custody of Tahawwur Hussain Rana, accused in the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, until July 9. Rana appeared via video conference as his previous custody term concluded.

During the session, his lawyer raised concerns about his health, prompting the court to request a detailed medical report from Tihar Jail authorities by June 9 .

Rana, a Pakistani-origin Canadian national and close associate of David Coleman Headley, was extradited from the United States to India in April 2025 after the U.S. Supreme Court dismissed his plea against extradition.

He faces charges related to conspiracy, murder, and terrorism for his alleged role in facilitating the 26/11 attacks that resulted in 166 fatalities .

The court also addressed Rana's request to communicate with his family, which the National Investigation Agency opposed, citing potential risks to the ongoing investigation. The court is set to consider this request on June 9. Rana's next court appearance is scheduled for July 9.
