In a major sustainability move, Bengaluru’s Waste Is Gold Technologies has developed the Gold Composter, a cutting-edge machine that transforms organic urban waste — from 20 kg to 10 tonnes — into rich compost in just 8 hours, without producing harmful emissions.
The system relies on a natural, aerobic bio-mechanical process that uses proprietary bacteria and a bioreactor setup, eliminating methane output and minimizing its carbon footprint. This means the waste decomposition happens fast, cleanly, and sustainably — making it a powerful tool in urban climate-tech solutions.
Beyond improving waste management, the compost produced is immediately usable, requiring no additional processing. The startup claims their solution can be scaled to handle hundreds of tonnes per day, offering a real path to circularity in cities choking with food waste.
With India generating massive amounts of municipal solid waste each day, innovations like this could significantly cut landfill load and greenhouse gas emissions — while turning what we discard into something valuable.
