In a swift and successful maritime rescue, the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) on Thursday (July 11, 2025) saved two U.S. nationals who were stranded at sea near the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The duo was aboard the U.S.-flagged sailing vessel ‘Sea Angel’, which suffered mechanical failure and became adrift in the Andaman Sea.
Upon receiving a distress alert, ICG Ship Rajveer was immediately deployed to locate the stranded vessel. The Coast Guard crew quickly established communication with the Americans and conducted an on-site safety and medical assessment.
Despite rough sea conditions, the ICG successfully provided assistance and ensured the crew’s safety. The Americans were reportedly in stable condition and expressed gratitude for the timely response.
This operation highlights India’s commitment to maritime security and humanitarian assistance in the Indo-Pacific region, especially in safeguarding international sailors navigating through its waters.
The Indian Coast Guard continues to remain vigilant and ready to respond to emergencies along the vast Indian coastline.
