Air India Crash: US body finds no fault in Boeing's fuel system!

In a major update on the tragic Air India crash that killed 241 of the 242 people on board, the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has found no fault with Boeing’s fuel control system. The accident, involving a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, had initially raised questions over a potential mechanical flaw, specifically related to the aircraft's fuel switches.

However, the FAA’s investigation confirms that the fuel control components functioned as intended, ruling out any defect that could have automatically cut off engine fuel supply. According to the FAA, pilot inputs—not system errors—likely led to the fuel cutoff shortly after takeoff.

The Indian Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) had also launched a parallel probe, focusing on how and why the fuel control switches were moved to ‘cutoff’, leading to the fatal power loss.

Boeing has responded, stating that no airworthiness directive is necessary, as the issue appears unrelated to design or manufacturing faults.

This shifts the focus squarely on cockpit actions, with further investigation underway into whether it was a manual error or a deliberate act.
