India has once again extended its airspace closure for Pakistani registered aircraft - including civilian, military, and leased planes - until August 24, 2025. The Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) was extended on Tuesday by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation and confirmed by Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
This ongoing restriction, first imposed on April 30 following the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22 - which killed 26 civilians - has been repeatedly renewed in monthly increments: initially through May 24, then June 24, July 24, and now to August 24. The measure is part of a broader set of retaliatory steps by India, including suspending the Indus Waters Treaty, closing the Attari land crossing, and launching Operation Sindoor, a precision military operation against terror infrastructure .
Reciprocally, Pakistan has also extended its ban on Indian aircraft until August 24 . The tit-for-tat restrictions reflect deepening diplomatic tensions, with both nations citing strategic and security considerations. India continues to preclude Pakistani flights from flying over or operating within its territory while monitoring the evolving situation.
