Wimbledon has a new king! Defending champion Alcaraz dethroned!

Jannik Sinner captured his first Wimbledon championship Sunday, defeating two-time defending champion Carlos Alcaraz 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 in a thrilling final at the All England Club. The world No. 1 secured his fourth Grand Slam title, moving within one of his Spanish rival's tally.

The victory marked a significant turnaround for the 23-year-old Italian, who had lost their previous five encounters, including a heartbreaking French Open final defeat just five weeks prior where he squandered a two-set lead and three match points.

Sinner ended multiple streaks for the 22-year-old Alcaraz, who entered with a 24-match winning streak and perfect 5-0 record in major finals. Ironically, Sinner was also the last player to beat Alcaraz at Wimbledon, defeating him in the fourth round in 2022.
