The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) has announced plans to revamp the city’s waste management system by dividing Gurgaon into two clusters using the Delhi-Jaipur Expressway (NH-48) as the boundary line. This division will streamline the door-to-door (D2D) garbage collection process and make tendering more efficient. Currently, the MCG uses 330 vehicles to collect waste from households without any charge.
Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya stated that the plan aims to improve waste segregation, optimize collection routes, and ensure better service delivery. The civic body has also invited suggestions from residents and Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) to make the system more citizen-friendly.
Several RWAs have requested that MCG introduce waste pick-up facilities from each floor of apartments, citing that most residents are unavailable during the day and that ground-floor residents often object to storing waste near entrances. The initiative marks a step toward creating a cleaner and smarter Gurgaon with public participation in sustainable waste management.
