Patna, July 12, 2025 – Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) president Chirag Paswan received a chilling death threat via Instagram on July 11, in which the sender vowed to “bomb him by July 20.” The threat, posted by an account identifying as “Tiger Meraj Idisi,” prompted the party’s spokesperson Rajesh Bhatt to file a formal complaint with the Patna Cyber Crime Police Station that same evening.
Officials have registered the case under Section 66‑F of the IT Act, which addresses cyberterrorism, and Section 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which criminalizes intimidation. Cyber DCP Nitish Chandra Dharia confirmed the FIR was lodged at around 9 PM, and a full investigation has been launched.
With Bihar’s assembly elections approaching, the threat is viewed as a serious attack on not only Paswan, but also the democratic fabric and Dalit leadership. Party leaders have demanded swift action - including immediate arrest - and enhanced security measures. The Patna cyber police are tracing the suspect’s account source and have begun forensic analysis.
