When an IT-sector professional traded his desk for a classroom, he didn’t just change careers—he re-discovered what it means to teach. As reported by The Hindu, this former techie entered a city school and found that the real curriculum wasn’t only maths or science—it was values, connections and empathy.
In the early weeks, he learned that students don’t just need answers; they need encouragement, space to fail and someone who sees them. Tech tasks gave clear outputs; teaching gave messy emotions, breakthrough smiles and relationship building.
He began using his analytical mindset—lesson-plans, data-driven feedback and structured routines—but quickly realised that theory alone wasn’t enough. Classroom life demanded humility, listening and constant adaptation. He saw raw potential in kids, discovered how silence carries stories, and found that a simple word of praise could shift a child’s world
.More than the professional switch, the story becomes a personal transformation: from a life defined by deliverables to one defined by impact, presence and community. In the end, he says: “We engineers build systems; teachers build people.” And perhaps, people are the most important systems of all.
