The winter session of Parliament of India is slated to run from December 1 to December 19, 2025, as officially announced by Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju. He confirmed that President Droupadi Murmu has approved the government’s proposal to convene the Houses during this period.

Rijiju expressed hopes that the session will be “constructive & meaningful”, aimed at strengthening democracy and addressing the aspirations of the people. Scheduled soon after the Bihar assembly elections, the session comes at a politically significant time. Analysts anticipate that both Houses will take up key legislative business, debates on national issues such as electoral reforms, and possibly scrutiny of government policy.

As the final parliamentary meeting block of the calendar year, the session provides the government an opportunity to push unfinished bills, introduce new legislation and set the tone for the next year’s governance agenda. With attention now shifted to December, all eyes are on the agenda, attendance and pace of business.
