Kolkata rape accused strips shirt in court, claims no scratch marks and a love bite thus “it was consensual”

In a dramatic courtroom moment, Manojit “Mango” Mishra—the main accused in the alleged gang-rape of a 24-year-old law student at South Calcutta Law College—removed his shirt before his lawyer to demonstrate he had no scratch marks, asserting the encounter was consensual. But the lawyer pointed out a mark which Mishra claimed was a "love bite". Mishra, who has a history as a college staffer and former student leader, maintains his innocence.

A special investigation team (SIT) has been set up and is reviewing 42 CCTV feeds, interviewing 17 witnesses, and analyzing call records to reconstruct the events of this incident.

Mishra, a practicing lawyer and ex-TMC student wing leader, is also entangled in a web of allegations—facing 11 criminal cases, including four for molestation. His alleged campus dominance has long fostered fear, with past incidents of harassment, body-shaming, and filming private videos that went largely unchecked.
