In a pivotal diplomatic engagement today, India’s External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar met with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in New Delhi. The discussions centered on restoring momentum to bilateral relations by emphasizing peace and stability along their Himalayan border. Jaishankar underscored that only through de-escalation can both countries move forward cautioning that unresolved differences must not escalate into disputes.
This visit marks an important thaw in relations: it followed months of strategic recalibration and comes just ahead of India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi planning to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in China. Analysts frame Wang Yi’s appearance as a calculated diplomatic thaw, signaling India and China’s willingness to recalibrate amid global shifts and fractured ties with the U.S.
India's approach underscores pragmatic engagement: dialogue, not confrontation, will guide its foreign policy toward its neighbor. With a package of strategic events on the horizon from the SCO Summit to ongoing bilateral mechanisms the visit signals a deliberate push for predictability and constructive collaboration in Asia.
