During the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) Open Debate on Women, Peace, and Security on October 7, 2025, India's Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Parvathaneni Harish, delivered a strong rebuttal to Pakistan's allegations regarding Jammu and Kashmir. Harish condemned Pakistan's repeated statements as a "delusional tirade" and emphasized India's commitment to women's rights and peace initiatives.
In his address, Harish highlighted Pakistan's historical record, specifically referencing the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War. He accused Pakistan of conducting a "systematic genocide," including the mass rape of approximately 400,000 women by its military forces. Harish stated, "A country that bombs its own people, conducts systematic genocide, can only attempt to distract the world with misdirection and hyperbole."
The Indian representative further asserted that Pakistan's attempts to divert attention from its own human rights violations by raising the Kashmir issue were transparent and lacked credibility. He reaffirmed India's unblemished record on the Women, Peace, and Security agenda and called for a focus on genuine global challenges.
This exchange underscores the ongoing diplomatic tensions between India and Pakistan, with both nations utilizing international platforms to assert their positions on regional and human rights issues.
