Goa draws record 5.46 million tourists in first half of 2025

Goa’s tourism boom continues, with the coastal state seeing a record 54.55 lakh tourist arrivals between January and June 2025, according to official figures released on July 19. Domestic tourists accounted for the vast majority—51.84 lakh—while 2.71 lakh were international visitors.

January set the tone with 10.56 lakh arrivals (9.86 lakh domestic and ~70,000 foreign), followed by 9.05 lakh in February, 8.89 lakh in March, 8.42 lakh in April, 9.27 lakh in May, and 8.34 lakh in June. Despite the summer heat, the tourism pace remained consistent across months.

Goa’s Director of Tourism, Kedar Naik, attributed the surge to a “multi‑pronged approach” including aggressive promotional campaigns, active participation in travel expos, and a shift towards regenerative tourism—emphasizing hinterland trails, spiritual circuits, festivals, and village‑based experiences. June’s boost was further credited to targeted campaigns around monsoon festivities such as São João and Chikhal Kalo.

This performance builds on a strong 10.5 % year-on-year gain already recorded in Q1 2025, when Goa welcomed 28.5 lakh visitors—up from 25.8 lakh during the same quarter in 2024.

With growing air connectivity via Manohar International Airport and enhanced infrastructure, officials remain optimistic the tourism upswing will continue into the monsoon and beyond.
