Cybercriminals are exploiting Gmail’s unsubscribe feature in a dangerous scam that compromises devices and personal data.
Clicking “unsubscribe” in suspicious emails may confirm your email is active, making it a target for further attacks.
These links often lead to phishing sites that steal login credentials or install malware, which can harvest sensitive information like passwords and financial details for sale on black market forums.
To stay safe, avoid clicking unsubscribe links in unsolicited emails.
Instead, use Gmail’s “Report Spam” or “Block Sender” features to manage junk mail. Enable two-factor authentication (2FA) for added security, and never share personal details via unverified links.
Regularly check your account activity on Gmail’s security page and report suspicious emails to Google’s official helpline. Stay vigilant to protect your digital identity in 2025
