Delhi Metro fare hike: Ticket prices increased for first time in 8 Years!

Starting Monday, August 25, 2025, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) implemented its first fare increase since 2017, raising ticket prices by a nominal ₹1 to ₹4 on all lines and up to ₹5 on the Airport Express Line.
Under the new tariff structure, the minimum fare now stands at ₹11 (previously ₹10), while the maximum fare has increased to ₹64 (from ₹60). For instance, the fare for travel between 0–2 km is ₹11, 2–5 km is ₹21, 5–12 km is ₹32, 12–21 km is ₹43, 21–32 km is ₹54, and beyond 32 km is now ₹64 . Differential fares apply on Sundays and national holidays as well.
DMRC attributed the hike to rising operational and maintenance costs and emphasized the need to maintain service quality . Despite the increase, smart-card users continue to receive a 10% discount, along with an additional 10% during off-peak hours - before 8 a.m., between 12–5 p.m., and after 9 p.m. .
Commuters are advised to check the updated fare chart before traveling to understand the new pricing structure fully.
