Trump taps insider as new ambassador to India!

President Trump has nominated Sergio Gor, his close, oft-controversial Director of the White House Presidential Personnel Office, as the next U.S. ambassador to India and Special Envoy for South and Central Asia. At just 38, Gor is widely recognized for his loyalty and efficiency in staffing roles, credited with filling over 95% of federal appointments though critics question his aggressive vetting tactics and political zeal. But his grasp of Indian policy and South Asia is minimal a fact that raises eyebrows among diplomats and observers.

The nomination is viewed as a “soft landing” for a trusted aide who had sparked tensions with Elon Musk and faced scrutiny over delayed security-clearance paperwork and unclear origins. As ambassador, Gor will hold dual roles representing the U.S. in India and managing broader regional affairs pending Senate confirmation.
