Delhi govt launches ‘School Web App’ for schools!

The School Web App is a digital initiative launched by the Delhi government to transform its school system into a smarter, more transparent and accessible ecosystem. Education Minister Ashish Sood described the platform as aligning with the visions of National Education Policy 2020, Digital India and Viksit Bharat 2047.

Here’s how the app works and what it aims to achieve:

  • It serves as a unified portal for schools, parents and students; features include timetables, homework, notes, attendance and results.
  • Parents will receive real-time updates about their child’s academic progress and key school announcements, facilitating stronger home-school collaboration.
  • For teachers and administrators, the app reduces paperwork and administrative burden, allowing more focus on teaching and learning.

However, the initiative also comes with challenges to consider:

  • Digital divide: Not all students or parents may have access to devices or reliable internet, potentially creating access disparities.
  • Human-tech balance: While technology streamlines processes, teaching remains a human-centred activity; over-reliance on digital tools could overlook the importance of teacher-student interactions.
  • Data-security considerations: As schools digitise information, ensuring students’ privacy and safeguarding data becomes essential.
