Comet turns your Browser into a Personal Assistant - And it's free!

In a bold move to redefine web interaction, Perplexity’s Comet browser is now free for all users, embedding its AI deeply into every step of your online workflow.

Getting Started

  1. Install and import: Download Comet, set it as your default browser, and import bookmarks and extensions from your previous browser.

  2. Add the AI assistant: The Comet assistant lives in a sidebar and “travels” with you — letting you highlight text, ask questions about pages, or trigger task actions.

How to Complete Tasks

  • Research & summarization: Ask Comet to condense lengthy articles or reports into key points.

  • Email & reply drafting: Comet can scan and summarize your messages, then help you compose replies (e.g. “Show me emails from X, draft response”).

  • Workflow automation: Use built-in shortcuts (or natural-language scripts) for repetitive tasks like organising tabs, scheduling, or social media lookups.

  • Shopping, booking & actions: Comet can assist with product comparisons, filling forms, making reservations — effectively acting on your behalf when permitted.

Tips & Caveats

  • Be cautious when granting high-level permissions — Comet’s AI acts autonomously, so review task proposals.

  • Some advanced features (background processing, curated news) remain behind Comet Plus / Max tiers.

  • Security experts warn of vulnerabilities like prompt injection, so adopt safe practices and avoid sensitive transactions till more maturity.

Comet turns passive browsing into active accomplishing - with AI as your assistant, not just a tool. Start small, test features, and gradually entrust more tasks.
