India suspended the Indus Waters Treaty after the April Pahalgam terror attack, citing Pakistan’s alleged support for cross-border terrorism. Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif then warned that “enemy cannot snatch even a single drop of water from Pakistan” and threatened a “decisive response.”
In a sharp retort, AIMIM leader and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi dismissed the threats—calling them “nonsense” and warning that they would bear no effect on India. With a pointed reference to India’s defense capabilities, he declared: “BrahMos hai humaare paas”, underscoring that the powerful Indo-Russian cruise missile system is within India’s arsenal.
Owaisi’s remarks reflect mounting tensions following India’s move to hold the Indus Waters Treaty in abeyance. Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar emphasized that the treaty will remain suspended until Pakistan “irrevocably” ends its support for terrorism.
Amid rising saber-rattling from Pakistan’s military leadership and threats to water security, Owaisi’s assertive response signals India’s firm posture—backed by its strategic capabilities.
