Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan is set to headline Kaalidhar Laapata, a heartfelt drama directed by Madhumita and co-produced by Zee Studios and Emmay Entertainment. The debut OTT release arrives on ZEE5 on July 4, 2025
In the film, Bachchan portrays Kaalidhar, an aging man who, upon discovering plans by his family to abandon him, decides to run away. During his journey, he encounters Ballu, an energetic eight-year-old orphan, and their evolving bond transforms into a touching road‑trip narrative of healing, friendship, and rediscovered hope.
Producers at Emmay Entertainment describe Kaalidhar Laapata as a deeply personal story, celebrating intergenerational friendship and resilience in rural India.
