A huge gathering swept through central London on the weekend as far-right activist Tommy Robinson led the “Unite the Kingdom” march, drawing estimates of 110,000 to 150,000 attendees. Protesters carried Union Jacks and St. George’s Crosses, held signs reading “Stop the boats,” “Send them home,” and voiced dissatisfaction with Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
Elon Musk appeared via video link, urging the crowd that “whether you fight back or die” is the impending choice, and calling for a change in government. Violence marred parts of the event: police reported 25 arrests, 26 officers injured (four of them seriously), as some marchers clashed with law enforcement or attempted to breach cordons, throw objects, or veer off designated routes. A counter-protest by around 5,000 anti-racism demonstrators marched nearby.
Amid national debate over immigration especially small boat crossings and asylum seeker accommodation the rally reflects growing polarization. While supporters call it a patriotic stand and free speech demand, critics warn of xenophobia, nationalist rhetoric, and threats to democratic norms.
