Fasting for 48 hours with only water may sound extreme, but your body follows a clear survival process. In the first 12–24 hours, it uses stored glucose from the liver to keep your energy stable. Once this supply runs out, the body shifts into a different mode.
It begins breaking down stored fat to produce energy. This leads to lower insulin levels and the formation of ketones, which help fuel the brain and other organs. This phase is often linked to fat loss, which is why many people find fasting appealing.
However, the process is not always easy. As blood sugar drops, people may feel tired, dizzy, irritated, or unable to focus properly. Headaches and weakness are also common during this period.
While some healthy individuals may handle short fasting periods, it is not suitable for everyone. Your health condition, hydration level, and daily routine matter a lot.
Following extreme fasting trends without understanding the risks can harm your body. It is always better to be cautious and take professional advice before trying such methods.
