Instagram suspending accounts? Here’s what you must do now...

A recent surge in account suspensions on Instagram has left many users locked out without clear explanations. Reports suggest this is linked to upgraded AI moderation systems designed to detect spam, bot-like behaviour, and policy violations faster than before.
While the intent is to keep the platform safe, the rollout appears to be catching genuine users too. Activities like rapid liking, mass following/unfollowing, using third-party apps, or logging in from multiple devices can sometimes trigger these systems-even if you’re not violating rules.
The bigger issue is transparency. Many users say they received vague notifications or none at all, making it difficult to understand what went wrong or how to fix it. Delayed responses to appeals have added to the frustration.
What you can do right now:
- Avoid using third-party automation or growth apps
- Limit aggressive actions like bulk follows or likes
- Always use the official app or website to log in
- Turn on two-factor authentication for added security
- If suspended, use the in-app appeal option and submit ID if asked
As AI takes a bigger role in moderation, platforms need stronger human review and clearer communication. For users, staying cautious and informed is now more important than ever.
