Two-time T20 World Cup winner Andre Russell will retire from international cricket at age 37 following the second T20 match against Australia on July 22 in his hometown Kingston, Jamaica.
The explosive all-rounder, who helped West Indies win T20 World Cups in 2012 and 2016, has earned 84 T20 caps, scoring three fifties and taking 61 wickets. Russell also played 56 ODIs, claiming 70 wickets before last appearing in 2019.
"To represent the West Indies has been one of the proudest achievements in my life," Russell said, expressing his desire to finish on a high note. Coach Daren Sammy praised Russell's unwavering hunger to perform. The five-match T20 series against Australia begins Sunday in Kingston.
