Nitish Kumar’s return to power in Bihar reflects more than political survival — it underlines voters’ trust in his long-standing “sushasan” (good governance) record. While Tejashwi Yadav ran a lively, change-oriented campaign, many voters remained skeptical of his bold promises, preferring Nitish’s proven track record of delivering roads, social welfare and administrative stability.
The NDA’s coordinated strategy was another plus: the BJP’s strong booth-level machinery combined with JD(U)’s local reach and Nitish’s personal credibility gave the alliance a clear edge. Nitish also managed to appeal to women voters and backward caste communities — constituencies that value security and continuity over risky change.
In the end, it wasn’t just charisma — it was competence. Voters chose Nitish not because he was flashy, but because he was dependable. As India Today puts it, his steady leadership “proved more reassuring than the most-animated promises” of his rivals.
