IndiaTV’s explainer traces how Arvind Kejriwal and Prashant Kishor entered politics with very different destinies. Kejriwal, once an anti-corruption crusader, stunned the political establishment with his Aam Aadmi Party’s debut in Delhi — building a brand rooted in public service and protest. In contrast, Kishor — a master strategist behind numerous campaign wins — launched his own party, Jan Suraaj, in Bihar. Despite his reputation, his first electoral outing fizzled: Jan Suraaj contested 238 seats but failed to win any.
IndiaTV argues that Kejriwal’s success came from connecting directly with voters, presenting himself as a messenger of change. Kishor, by contrast, lacked organic grassroots appeal — his campaign style and media intensity couldn’t replicate his behind-the-scenes strategist magic. Analysts quoted by IndiaTV also point to a mismatch between his promises and voter trust, coupled with limited local structures.
