The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is bringing a smart upgrade for commuters. Soon, QR code sign boards will be installed across National Highways to make travel smoother and safer.
By scanning these QR codes, travelers will instantly get project-specific details like highway number, project length, toll plaza distance, and contact details of patrol teams or project managers. Even emergency helpline 1033 will be just a scan away.
The boards will also share information about nearby facilities such as petrol pumps, hospitals, police stations, restaurants, truck lay-byes, puncture repair shops, and even EV charging stations.
Placed at toll plazas, rest areas, and major highway points, this initiative will not only improve road safety but also enhance the overall user experience on Indian highways. Meanwhile, NHAI also expects to monetize ₹35,000–40,000 crore in FY26, a big jump from the previous year.
