India’s internship landscape is undergoing a rapid transformation, with remote opportunities becoming a mainstream alternative to traditional, on-site roles. In 2024 alone, internship openings rose by 25%, marking a 135% surge over five years—a clear indicator of strong and growing demand for hands-on work exposure .
A standout trend: nearly half (49%) of all internships last year offered a work-from-home format, making them accessible to students from tier-2 and tier-3 cities. This shift is empowering a broader, more diverse student base who previously had limited access to opportunities due to geographic or financial constraints.
Some initiatives are taking access a step further. For instance, Puch AI recently launched fully remote internships offering staggering ₹1–₹2 lakh monthly stipends, open even to 10th-grade students and non-degree holders .
These virtual experiences not only broaden the talent pool but also equip students with in-demand skills like remote communication, time management, and self-discipline—all while promoting inclusivity and democratizing professional development.
