At the centenary celebrations of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in New Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled a special ₹100 commemorative coin and postage stamp, marking a historic moment: the first-ever portrayal of Bharat Mata on Indian currency.
The coin bears the national emblem on one side. On its reverse is a striking image of Bharat Mata seated on a lion in varada mudra, flanked by RSS swayamsevaks bowing in respect. The stamp commemorates a landmark moment in RSS history - the participation of its swayamsevaks in the 1963 Republic Day Parade.
Modi described the releases as a fitting tribute to both the nation and the RSS’s one-hundred-year journey of service. He highlighted that the stamp encapsulates the organisation’s patriotic contributions, while the coin’s image of Bharat Mata signals the deep cultural symbolism behind the tribute.
These commemorative issues are more than collectibles: they symbolise the intertwining of ideology, history, and national identity, and stand as enduring reminders of the RSS’s centennial legacy.
