Bengaluru-based startup Kutumb has achieved a significant milestone by turning profitable in FY25, securing its place in India’s growing “Indicorn” club—startups generating over ₹100 crore in revenue while maintaining profitability. Backed by Peak XV Partners and Tiger Global, the company reported operating revenue of ₹128.6 crore, reflecting a sharp 173% year-on-year increase driven largely by subscription income from its flagship platform, Crafto.
Founded in 2020, Kutumb operates a multilingual community ecosystem spanning social media, astrology, lifestyle, and utility apps, including Crafto, Zuno, Astro99, and Digi God. Crafto, which allows users to create personalised regional-language quotes and greetings for sharing across messaging platforms, has emerged as the company’s primary growth engine.
Despite rising marketing and employee expenses, revenue growth outpaced costs, enabling the company to post a net profit of ₹12 crore compared to a ₹3 crore loss the previous year. Advertising remained the largest expense category, highlighting the competitive nature of user acquisition in consumer internet businesses.
Kutumb’s profitability signals a broader shift in India’s startup ecosystem, where sustainable monetisation and disciplined scaling are increasingly valued over rapid but loss-making expansion, reflecting changing investor expectations and market maturity.
