Inside Tihar Jail: The shocking truth about life without luxury!

India’s prisons are known to be tough and strict places. Life inside jail is very different from life outside. Even rich and powerful people, who are used to luxury, face a harsh reality behind bars.

In maximum-security prisons like Tihar Jail, every evening the iron doors lock with strict timing, reminding inmates that their old life is gone. Many rich prisoners demand special treatment or better facilities, but most of the time, these requests are denied. This causes a big blow to their ego.

A former jailor says, "The jail breaks their confidence. The rich inmates sometimes cry or hide in corners because they feel helpless." Jail life is a great equalizer - no matter how wealthy or famous you are, life inside is tough.

Some inmates turn to religion for comfort, while others may try to escape or even attempt suicide. India’s jails are mostly punitive, not reformative, which means they focus more on punishment than helping prisoners change for the better.
