Following a tragic crash of a Bangladesh Air Force F‑7 BGI training jet into Milestone School and College in Dhaka’s Uttara area on July 21, India has dispatched a team of burn-specialist doctors and nurses to assist in treating the injured .
The aircraft, which reportedly suffered a mechanical malfunction shortly after takeoff from BAF Base Bir Uttom A.K. Khandker, plunged into the school premises around 1:06 PM local time. The impact and ensuing fire claimed the lives of at least 31 individuals, including 25 children, and left over 170 injured, many with severe burn injuries .
New Delhi confirmed the deployment of medical specialists from Ram Manohar Lohia and Safdarjung Hospitals in Delhi. The team will assess victims' conditions, recommend further treatment, and coordinate transfers to Indian hospitals if necessary. The Ministry of External Affairs stated that additional medical teams and equipment may follow, depending on preliminary assessments .
Bangladesh has declared a national day of mourning and launched a high-level investigation into the crash, even as students in Dhaka have staged protests demanding accountability and safe air force training protocols . The gesture underscores strong humanitarian cooperation between the neighboring countries during this devastating crisis.
