India Clinch T20I Series 2-1 as Brisbane Match Abandoned!

The final encounter of the five-match T20I series between India national cricket team and Australia national cricket team at The Gabba in Brisbane was abandoned due to persistent rain and lightning, handing India the series win at 2-1. India had already secured a 2-1 lead by winning the third and fourth games. The abandoned decider means Australia could not force a tie.

Sent in to bat, India made a brisk start, reaching 52/0 in just 4.5 overs, courtesy of strong opening shots from Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma, before the weather intervened. The earlier match in the series, held on the Gold Coast, saw India spin Australia out for 119 while defending 167 — a performance that put them ahead.

While nature decided the last match, India’s series win remains noteworthy — especially ahead of the upcoming T20 World Cup, which India co-hosts with Sri Lanka next year. The Australians were left to rue the weather’s timing, but also the series momentum which shifted after their initial win. The triumph enhances India’s confidence in their talent depth, bowling options and strategic adaptability in foreign conditions.
