A key leader of the Indian Independence Movement and the President of the Constituent Assembly, he served the highest office for 12 years (1950–1962) with unparalleled simplicity and scholarly depth.

• The Vizag Steel Plant Foundation (1979): The foundation stone for the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited) was laid, marking a major step in India's heavy industrialization and self-reliance in the steel sector.

• The 'Kamagata Maru' Resolution (1914): On this day, significant legal battles were unfolding regarding the Kamagata Maru ship, highlighting the global struggle of Indian immigrants against discriminatory colonial laws.
