Desert Blooms: Rajasthan’s Green Revolution Begins!

In the arid terrain of Rajasthan, where dust and drought prevail, Bhuvnesh Ojha dubbed the “Jungle Man of Rajasthan”—is proving that even the driest landscapes can regenerate. Through Pukaar Foundation, he has planted over 30,000 native trees and established eight dense mini-forests using the Miyawaki method, introducing more than 3,500 species adapted to harsh climates.

Parallelly, his team has conserved approximately two crore litres of rainwater and trained some 600 farmers in natural farming and permaculture, merging green restoration with livelihood support. The initiative underscores how green cover, water conservation and community participation can work in tandem to reverse desertification and boost resilience. With 800 volunteers driving planting drives across villages, the movement is both grassroots and scalable.

While deserts often symbolise loss and scarcity, Ojha’s journey is a vivid reminder of regeneration: that with vision, native species, community engagement and rain-harvesting, even parched land can bloom again.
