The Central Square Foundation (CSF), a Delhi-based nonprofit, is revolutionizing education in India by integrating joyful learning and AI literacy into public school curricula. Through initiatives like Mission Ankur, CSF has supported over 1.2 lakh schools and trained nearly 1.9 lakh primary teachers across Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.
These programs focus on foundational literacy and numeracy (FLN), employing creative methods such as song-based math lessons to engage students. In Haryana, CSF partnered with Chimple and Sutara Learning Foundation to pilot home-based learning, resulting in a 0.25 standard deviation improvement in math scores among Grade 1–2 students. Additionally, CSF launched AI Samarth, an AI literacy initiative aimed at equipping over 5 million students, parents, and educators with the knowledge and practices needed to harness AI effectively and safely.
Developed in collaboration with the Wadhwani School of Data Science and AI at IIT Madras, the curriculum is available in multiple languages and emphasizes ethical AI usage. These efforts align with national education goals, including NIPUN Bharat and NEP 2020, to ensure inclusive and equitable education across India.
