Uttar Pradesh was put on red alert on Wednesday after the Indian Army launched 'Operation Sindoor', a targeted strike on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
This action was taken in response to the Pahalgam terror attack, which killed 26 people, including a Nepali national.
The Indian Army and Air Force carried out precision strikes on terrorist bases linked to groups like Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba, which were planning more attacks on India. These strikes aimed to stop future threats without targeting Pakistani military locations.
Due to the risk of retaliation, UP Police have been told to stay on high alert. All field officers are working closely with Defence units to protect vital places like government buildings, transport hubs, and military sites.
The state's police chief confirmed the red alert on social media, saying security is being tightened across the state.
This alert is a precautionary step to ensure public safety and prevent any untoward incidents following India's strong response to terrorism.
Authorities are monitoring the situation closely.
