Bharti Airtel partnered with AI-powered search platform Perplexity to offer its premium Pro subscription free to all 360 million customers for one year, valued at ₹17,000 annually.
The Perplexity Pro subscription provides unlimited daily searches, access to advanced AI models like GPT-4.1 and Claude, deep research capabilities, file uploads, and image generation. Unlike traditional search engines, Perplexity delivers conversational, verified answers rather than link lists.
The strategic move aims to attract new subscribers and counter competition from Reliance Jio, which added 2.7 million users in May versus Airtel's 275,000. Customers can access the offer through the Airtel Thanks App across mobile, Wi-Fi, and DTH services.
