In a significant move citing national security, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has directed all OTT platforms, media streaming services, and intermediaries operating in India to immediately discontinue any content originating from Pakistan.
This includes web series, films, songs, podcasts, and other streaming material, whether subscription-based or freely accessible.
The advisory, issued in the wake of heightened cross-border tensions, applies uniformly across digital entertainment platforms and aims to curb the influence of foreign narratives perceived as harmful to India's interests.
The ministry emphasized the importance of aligning digital media with national security priorities and urged platforms to comply without delay.
The ban is already drawing strong reactions from various stakeholders in the entertainment industry.
