The Cabinet on Wednesday approved three flagship initiatives with a combined annual outlay exceeding Rs 50,000 crore to accelerate agricultural transformation and strengthen renewable energy investments.
The Prime Minister Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana (PMDDKY) receives Rs 24,000 crore over six years to develop 100 agriculture-focused districts, integrating 36 existing schemes under 11 ministries. The initiative targets 1.7 crore farmers through improved productivity, irrigation, storage infrastructure, and credit access.
For renewable energy, the Cabinet approved Rs 20,000 crore equity infusion into NTPC Green Energy Ltd, targeting 60 GW capacity by 2032. Additionally, Rs 7,000 crore was allocated to NLC India Renewables Ltd (NIRL) for clean energy expansion.
"India has already crossed the 50% mark in installed green energy capacity," said Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.
