China has revealed what it calls the world’s first ducted ton-class “flying saucer” eVTOL - and yes, it actually looks like a UFO.
The aircraft was showcased in Wuhan and can carry up to 450 kg. Its rotors are enclosed inside the body, making it safer to operate near buildings and on the ground. It can reportedly take off in just three seconds, making it suitable for quick urban missions.
Developers say it will first be used for logistics deliveries and aerial rescue operations after receiving official approvals.
Along with the saucer-shaped aircraft, China also introduced a hybrid tilt-rotor model with a range of over 1,000 km for intercity travel, and a “flying ICU” designed for medical emergencies.
With new aviation rules coming in July and strong government support, 2026 is expected to be a big year for commercial eVTOL flights. China is clearly pushing hard to lead the future of low-altitude urban air mobility.
