Why BJP’s Promises of Free Education and Aid Are Sparking Debate?

The Bharatiya Janata Party unveiled its second manifesto for the 2025 Delhi elections, promising financial support for youth preparing for competitive exams and free education for underprivileged students.

At the launch, BJP leaders Anurag Thakur, Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, Manoj Tiwari, Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva, and Vijender Gupta presented the second part of the Sankalp Patra. Anurag Thakur announced a ₹15,000 financial aid package for students preparing for competitive exams, along with reimbursement for travel and application fees twice.

In a major promise, the BJP pledged free education for needy students in government institutions, covering everything from kindergarten to post-graduation. "We are committed to providing free education from KG to PG for deserving students," Thakur declared.

The party also introduced the 'Dr. BR Ambedkar Stipend Scheme,' offering ₹1,000 per month to Scheduled Caste students pursuing technical or commerce courses. Additionally, the BJP proposed welfare boards for taxi and auto drivers, as well as domestic workers. These boards will provide life and accident insurance, along with scholarships for their children.

However, the manifesto didn't go unchallenged. Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal slammed it, calling it "dangerous for the country."

Kejriwal accused the BJP of planning to shut down free education in government schools and dismantle health services. "If BJP wins, free education and healthcare will end, making life harder for the poor in Delhi. Their Sankalp Patra is a blueprint to close government schools and Mohalla Clinics," he said.

With promises of support for students and workers on one side and accusations of undermining public welfare on the other, the BJP's manifesto has sparked a fierce debate ahead of the elections.
