Bali's beaches were once famous for their beauty, with clear waters and soft, white sands. Now, these beautiful beaches are covered in plastic waste. During the monsoon season, tons of trash are washing up on the shores, turning places like Kuta Beach into a "plastic nightmare".
Videos showing the piles of trash have gone viral, drawing attention to the serious problem. Sungai Watch, an environmental group, has called it the worst plastic pollution Bali has ever seen. Sam Bencheghib, the co-founder of Sungai Watch, shared videos showing how trash keeps appearing every day, despite the cleanup efforts.
Beaches like Jimbaran and Kedonganan have been hit the hardest. In Jimbaran alone, volunteers have removed 70 tons of plastic. But there is still a lot more to be done. Bali's beaches need more help, and the situation is a reminder of how important it is to take action against plastic pollution worldwide.
