Thai authorities have detained four Chinese nationals for illegally entering the restricted site of a collapsed high-rise in Bangkok, allegedly removing 32 sensitive files linked to the construction project.
The building, backed by a Chinese construction firm, was the only high-rise to collapse in Bangkok following the 7.7-magnitude earthquake in Myanmar. Its sudden failure has raised serious concerns about safety protocols and construction standards.
Authorities confirmed that blueprints and crucial paperwork were recovered from the men, who claimed to be subcontractors retrieving documents for insurance claims. However, the firm is now under scrutiny amid accusations of negligence and past structural failures.
Meanwhile, the death toll in Myanmar has surged to 1,700, with thousands injured. Rescue operations are still ongoing, as foreign aid pours into the devastated country.
